SEDEFA

The Ecuadorian Society of Environmental Law is a multidisciplinary professional group that studies, analyzes and develops environmental law to influence the formulation and implementation of public policies.

Vision

To be a national and international reference in Environmental and Forestry Policy, Law and Management and their interrelationships.

Our philosophy

We are totally committed to the environment, we believe that the best thing we can leave to future generations is a place where they can share with nature, where the conjugation of the 4 basic elements: water, earth, air and fire merge, to achieve that special amalgam of experience that can only be felt in direct contact with nature. We believe that things can be done better and we work with the commitment to make this philosophy of life a reality.

Our history...

The Ecuadorian Society of Environmental Law was created by Ministerial Agreement 037 of March 14, 2008. It was created as part of the strengthening of national groups of professionals to assist in the construction of Environmental Law and in processes of improvement and enforcement of environmental legislation, under the Latin American Network of Forestry Law, IUFRO 6.13.01 (now Unit 9.02.01) formed in 2003.

Through this dynamic, a group of multidisciplinary professionals decided to promote environmental law in Ecuador, and to collaborate with public and private institutions, as well as with different actors of the environmental sector in the construction of a national alliance for the sustainable management of the country’s natural and environmental heritage.
